This Netflix Documentary Explores the Sh*tshow That Was Fyre Festival

There are a lot revelations to mull over in the trailer for Netflix's forthcoming documentary about Fyre Festival, but one statement really encapsulates the failed music festival: "Powerful models built this festival, and then one picture of cheese on toast ripped down the festival."

Coming to the streaming platform on Jan. 18, Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened explores what exactly went wrong with what was supposed to be a luxury getaway on a secluded island in the Bahamas with notable performers, trendy food, and copious amounts of alcohol in 2017. It's since been well-documented that many musical acts dropped out of the festival before it even began, food and water were scarce, and getting off the island would prove to be difficult, to say the least.

The documentary will also address the aftermath, specifically the lawsuits co-founders Billy McFarland and Ja Rule have faced as a result of their poor planning. Though many of the suits are ongoing, McFarland was sentenced to six years in jail in October 2018 after pleading guilty to wire fraud.
